Was Darwin Wrong?

leave a comment »

Check out this Newsweek article first…

Clearly, this article is not taking a Creationist view of the origins of man (not even close), but it is doing something very sinister and subversive – it actually dares to ::gasp:: question Darwin! Darwinian thought has been the golden calf of science for 150 years, and anyone who questions Darwin (which is usually Christians), is deemed a fanatic, ignorant, a kook, or worse! Yet now, new science seems to show that Darwin’s theory of evolution is, at least in some ways, wrong! What is the world coming to?!

I have long believed that Darwin’s theory of evolution would not last forever, and that at some point someone would come up with another theory that would challenge and eventually trump Darwinianism. Perhaps this is the first portent of Darwin’s ultimate demise.

Okay, so I haven’t been on top of this, so I’ll tryto remember the moview I’ve watched…

Last night I rented “Death Race,” started watching it around 9:30, fell asleep somewhere around 10 (it had been a long day).I actually saw this in the theater and liked it – it is a total guy flick. Cars, guns, explosions, blood. Oh yeah.

I got a few movies from my Blockbuster queue this week…

Ladyhawke – Not overly impressive, but a decent movie with a young Matthew Broderick and Michelle Pfeiffer. It’s a love story with a magical twist.

4,400 Second Season – I had never watched this show while it was on the air, but I am LOVING IT! It’s about a group of 4,400 people who have gone missing over the past sixty years, then suddenly reappear from a mysterious ball of light having no memory of where they had been, nor has any of them aged a day. Oh, and many of them have new special abilities. I watched the Season Finale of season 2 this week – it was AWESOME. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Babylon A.D. – don’t waste your time. I generally love sci-fi/action flicks, I can even get into some of the “B” Sci-Fi movies, but this one didn’t really have a plot. And it had less of an ending. All of a sudden the movie was over, and you’re left with a “Wait, what just happened?” feeling. I actually had to rewind it to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. I hadn’t. It had some cool visual stuff, and they tried to create the whole futuristic dystopia thing, but just never really pulled it off.

Movie Log…

with one comment

This blog has a few purposes. First, I am slightly ashamed by the excessive amount of movies I watch, and want a public place to share my shame. Then, the slightly contradictory part of this (more cognitive dissonance), is that I love movies, and since I watch a lot of them, any new movies I see, I’ll write about.

Last Night:

Shaun of the Dead – I recently bought this movie. I love it. Despite the fact that there is excessive profanity/vulgarity (not to mention gratuitous zombie violence), I think this movie is incredible. Very well written, very funny, plenty of sarcasm, irony and satire. If you can stomach the profanity (and the gore, I guess), you should see it.

National Treasure – I fell asleep about 20 min in to this one. Seen it a million times. I just put it in to waste some time.

Recently watched:

Tropic Thunder – hated it. There were a few funny parts, but it was incredibly crass. Not my cup of tea.
