This weekend:

Jericho – Season 1: I am absolutely IN LOVE with this show! Basic premise: there is an organized nuclear attack on something like 25 U.S. cities, followed by an EMP attack. The entire infrastructure of the U.S. is effectively destroyed, communication is cut off, no electricity – you get the picture. Small towns now become the centers for commerce/trade (as all the big cities have been obliterated). Lawlessness abounds, and the rural Midwest becomes a brutal and ruthless place. Awesome. Watch it.

Twighlight –  Actually not terrible. Decent plot. Very clean – violence is minimal, almost no blood (impressive for a vampire flick), no language, no sex. But definitely created for 14 year-old girls. There are several uber-cheesy Mexican soap opera type close-ups. And the “reveal” part of it (where the girl finds out she’s in love with a vampire), is awkward and embarassing. 3 stars. Worth a rent. But there’s plenty of movies I’d put in line before this one.

Okay, so I haven’t been on top of this, so I’ll tryto remember the moview I’ve watched…

Last night I rented “Death Race,” started watching it around 9:30, fell asleep somewhere around 10 (it had been a long day).I actually saw this in the theater and liked it – it is a total guy flick. Cars, guns, explosions, blood. Oh yeah.

I got a few movies from my Blockbuster queue this week…

Ladyhawke – Not overly impressive, but a decent movie with a young Matthew Broderick and Michelle Pfeiffer. It’s a love story with a magical twist.

4,400 Second Season – I had never watched this show while it was on the air, but I am LOVING IT! It’s about a group of 4,400 people who have gone missing over the past sixty years, then suddenly reappear from a mysterious ball of light having no memory of where they had been, nor has any of them aged a day. Oh, and many of them have new special abilities. I watched the Season Finale of season 2 this week – it was AWESOME. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Babylon A.D. – don’t waste your time. I generally love sci-fi/action flicks, I can even get into some of the “B” Sci-Fi movies, but this one didn’t really have a plot. And it had less of an ending. All of a sudden the movie was over, and you’re left with a “Wait, what just happened?” feeling. I actually had to rewind it to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. I hadn’t. It had some cool visual stuff, and they tried to create the whole futuristic dystopia thing, but just never really pulled it off.
